Songinfo

'You're the one that done' it is a song written by Raymond Scott, 1958 an originally recorded by Thomas Wayne. Thomas Wayne (July 22, 1940, Batesville, Mississippi - August 15, 1971, Memphis, Tennessee) was an American singer. He is best remembered as a one-hit wonder for "Tragedy". Wayne, who was born Thomas Wayne Perkins, was the brother of Johnny Cash's guitarist, Luther Perkins. He released several singles between 1958 and 1964, primarily on the labels Fernwood and Mercury, including "This Time", which would later become a hit for Troy Shondell. He scored a major U.S. hit with the song "Tragedy" (credited to Thomas Wayne with the DeLons), which peaked at #20 on the Black Singles chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959.[3] It sold over one million copies, earning gold disc status. The song proved to be his only hit, however. Later, Wayne worked as a sound engineer, before he died in a car accident, at the age of 31, in Memphis in 1971.

Lyrics

I'm lookin' at the moon, countin' all the stars
I got a burnin' fever and I know my heart's on fire
And you're the one that done it, oohw-ooh
Yeah, you're the one that done it
Well, you're the one that done it
Why do you do me this way?

Don't know which way is up, don't know which way is down
All I know is that my head keeps spinnin' 'round and 'round
And you're the one that done it, oohw-ooh
Yeah, you're the one that done it
Well, you're the one that done it
Why do you do me this way?

Well, my brain's tied in a knot, but little sense I got
It's goin' fast and it won't last, I'm gonna blow my top
And you're the one that done it, oohw-ooh
Yeah, you're the one that done it
Well, you're the one that done it
Why do you do me this way?

You bug me baby, you think that love's a game
I'm goin' 'round in circles and you're drivin' me insane
And you're the one that done it, oohw-ooh
Yeah, you're the one that done it
Well, you're the one that done it
Why do you do me this way?
Yeah, you're the one that done it
Why do you do me this way?
Yeah, you're the one that done it
Why do you do me this way?
